These table toppers measure 24 ½” from tip to tip. They are based on my original pattern “Triplet” which can be found under this name in our pattern listing. The pattern gives the option of three sizes, these here being the medium size. All projects are sewn from three coordinated fabrics. The centre pieces have been machine quilted to emphasize the pieced stars. I used a thin backing and bound the toppers with a single layered binding to reduce bulk.
The table toppers can be washed in the machine on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Dry flat on a towel and press if necessary.
Stars:
The centre star is of a medium green with a graphic gold print. The middle star is made of gold coloured fabric printed with subtle golden stars and a myriad of small golden dots. The outer star is sewn from a red fabric printed with a variety of green, maroon and golden stars. Backing is a dark red and binding consists of a dark green with printed swirls. I used gold metallic thread for quilting.
Silver/Gold:
The centre star is of a medium grey with lighter grey snowflakes and silver dots. The middle star features a white fabric with a printed silver design. The outer star is sewn from a beautiful print of grays and silver Christmas balls with golden accents. The project has been backed with a mottled grey. The binding picks up the gold tone in the Christmas balls. I used silver metallic thread for quilting.
Poinsettia:
The inner star is a white on white print. The middle star is a beautiful traditional poinsettia print. The outer star is dark green embellished with a swirly golden design. The project is backed with a solid green and bound with a lighter green with a graphic gold print. Quilting has been done with gold metallic thread.
Blue:
The centre star is made from a tone-on-tone medium blue. The middle star is cream with a medium blue floral design that evokes a feeling old fashioned lace. The fabric of the outer star has an almost navy background and picks up the medium blue and cream in its floral design from the other two fabrics used. Backing and binding are a solid navy blue.
“I love to work with colours and shapes and have designed quilt patterns for the past 25 years. I am especially intrigued by the complexity of scrap quilts which combine a multitude of fabrics. I design, assemble and quilt my projects on a home sewing machine in a smoke- and pet-free environment.”
