Set of 2 Hot Pepper Reversible Coffee Mats
13.5″ x 9.5″
I call these items coffee mats as they are just the right size for a mug and a small plate.
These coffee mats consist of a number of coordinated red fabrics, one of them being of red peppers. The fabric strips were cut into wedges and sewn together in a scrambled fashion. Each coffee mat looks a bit different from the other. They were quilted with angled lines and bound with the hot pepper fabric. The backing is a non-descript mottled print of green and red and gives you a second look to your mats.
Fabrics used in my table runners, center pieces and placemats are quality cottons. As batting I usually use a flat 50/50 cotton/polyester. Occasionally I also use 80/20 cotton/polyester for these items. They can be machine washed in cold water with a mild detergent and tumble dried on a low setting or dried while lying flat on a towel. Press with steam on a cotton setting. Many of these designs make also wonderful wall hangings in narrow wall spaces. The size of my mini runners is ideal for dinette or coffee tables. They can also be used as a topper on counters, side boards, buffets, dressers or book shelves and make nice wall hangings in narrow wall spaces.
“I love to work with colours and shapes and have designed quilt patterns for the past 25 years. I am especially intrigued by the complexity of scrap quilts which combine a multitude of fabrics. I design, assemble and quilt my projects on a home sewing machine in a smoke- and pet-free environment. Piecing is done with quality cotton fabrics. Batting in quilts is Hobbs Heirloom unless otherwise noted. This batting combines the best qualities of 80% cotton and 20% polyester. For table decor I prefer to use a flat 50/50 cotton/polyester blend.”
