Totally West Coast
We recently received a lovely letter from one of our customers:
I have just completed the quilt “Totally West Coast”. This was only the third quilt I have made and it was truly an adventure in quilting. I had an enormous amount of fun and learned a ton in the process. I got the pattern in Victoria in September. I decided to make it for my son and daughter-in-law who had just moved to Vancouver. I delivered it last weekend to its new home. What a delight to make something for people you love.
I am attaching a photo of the finished quilt. There are a few additions to cover up gaps that appeared before I realized the importance of both cutting and sewing exactly. And I added the little bear under the tree. The clouds were an addition as the blue sky was just a little too blue.
All in all I was delighted to work on your design. It really captures the beauty of the west coast. I look forward to trying other designs of yours.
Thank you for sharing such talent and creativity.

Samples Sell Patterns
This is not news to you! Recently I was asked to provide some small samples of my patterns for a trade show. I dug into my stash and sewed a number of projects using totally different fabrics than the pattern covers show. How fun it was to see them displayed! Do you recognize the patterns?
Clicking on the thumbnails will take you to the original pattern.
These can be quickly sewn and have the ability to sell a new fabric line just as well as a few older bolts that might linger in a corner of your store.
We revamped the cover page for "Blue Lagoon" to also show the version of the table runner. It used to be hidden on the back cover. The pattern also includes instructions for a bed runner.
My compliments to this group of ladies from Saskatchewan who participated in a Mystery Quilt event over several months and ended up with charming variations of my mix and match sampler "Home is Where the Heart is" which I describe as a "quilt for all seasons and reasons". Each lesson teaches a new technique. In the end everything will find its place exactly where the quilter wants it. Check out pattern #108 to see more variations.
Recently I became aware of an organization which has the goal to help girls in third world countries to keep attending school even after reaching adolescence. My words could not be better than theirs so I urge you to check out their website at www.daysforgirls.org to find out for yourself how you as a quilter, a store owner, or a quilters' guild can help. Please spread the word.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any support you can give to this and future generations of girls and women in our world.
"Ursula Riegel is the heart and soul behind 'Designs to Share with You'. In 1991 she took her first formal quilting class because she wanted to learn the art of quilt making before the 'fad' was over. Little did she know that she would eventually play a part to keep the 'fad' alive. Read the full article.
